Balancing Act

Upgrading the Garage Lighting

I’ve been wanting to remodel our garage for the longest and now I finally have the time and the necessary resource.

There are many things I want to change in our garage, such as:

  • Replacing all the drywalls, including the ceiling
  • Install a Versa Lift attic lift system
  • Upgrade and replace our garage attic ladder
  • Upgrade and replace our garage door and garage door motor
  • Polish, seal and coat our garage floor with polyurethane and flakes

These will take time and will take place over time, since I have to clear out the garage and organize it before any of it can happen. So I start with the basic and an upgrade that instantly paid off. I began the garage remodeling process by upgrading the garage lighting.

The original lighting consists of a single LED bulb assisted by the garage door motor integrated lighting. While it lights up the garage space, it is no where near what I’d say functional.

So what I did was order two sets of 25-piece hexagonal lighting from Amazon and began installing them over the Porsche’s spot.

The install took about 45 minutes. I waited a few days to install the second set due to the heat, but it also took 45 minutes to an hour.

The upgraded hexagonal LED light is a game changer. It lit up the entire garage like nothing I’ve seen. But that’s not all! I plan to add another 3-piece set and extend the Corvette side of the lighting so it wraps around the entrance of the garage door.
