DC5 Power Folding Mirror w/Heated feature

By 5teve-0 | May 5, 2010 | Category 2005 Acura RSX Type S

Time for a long belated update! In the next few days, I will be tinkering with wiring up a set of JDM DC5 power folding mirrors. The idea is to wire it up using the JDM power mirror folding switch while retaining the USDM heated mirror feature. How will this be handled? By installing two additional plugs to accommodate a total of 7 wires per mirror; 3 wires to control the motor movement, 2 wires to control the folding feature, and 2 additional wires to control the heated mirror feature. All this will be done using stock wiring so there is minimal wire slicing and splicing done on the OEM wiring in the event you’d want to revert to stock. We’ll be using the USDM OEM heated mirror switch as well. The heated mirror switch will be cut from the OEM switch housing and then epoxied onto the switch panel right next to the JDM folding mirror switch. In theory, this should work. In the event that it doesn’t, I will be splitting the install guide into two write-ups: wiring up the JDM DC5 power folding mirror and then hooking up the heated mirror switch. Stay tuned.

Thanks man, appreciate the diy because I’ve been trying to get around this as well but I only have the 02 rsx. Been liking the diy you been doing, and I appreciate the time and effort you put in for your work, keep going at it.

No problem, I had no idea commenting was available. Need to tinker with this blog system more. The mirrors, at least the folding feature has been wired up and a DIY will be available within a week! Heated feature will be part 2.
